How to package marketing videos to get more bang for your buck

Your organization needs video content.  It doesn’t matter what type of business you are or how big, you need to post videos to market your brand and build an audience.  The type of production may depend on the business, but no business can neglect this aspect of modern marketing.  Fact is, people are more likely to click on a video link before reading text.

Since video needs may vary, and there are, of course, budget restraints, it makes sense to develop a video marketing strategy that packages videos together.

Here are a few ways to package your video productions to maximize your resources.

Hero Video Package

A respectable production for a hero video can cost anywhere from $10 to $20K.  That’s with a decent 4K camera with professional crew and equipment.

A higher-end production with cinema cameras can be anywhere from $20-50K.

You’ll use this hero video for a few years and get a return on it in itself.

But to get more bang, you can easily package additional edits using the assets created during production.  These cuts may include:

  • Several 5-15 second social media shorts
  • 15-30 second teaser
  • 30 second overview

If schedule allows, you can also include executive or customer interviews during the shoot, which can be made into additional content.

The key is to plan everything at the very beginning.

Corporate Video Package

Eventually companies need corporate communication videos.  Packaging these videos together can save resources and save time on planning and editing.  This package may include:

  • Executive video (talking head) for internal or external audiences
  • HR communication videos
  • Policy or how-to videos
  • Testimonials

What if I need completely different types of videos?

If you need a wide variety of different videos, then it’s ideal to work with a full-service video production company that can handle everything (small to big productions, animated to live-action, etc).

With a full-service agency, you can work out a package that works best for you.  One popular package we have here at Picturelab consists of:

  • One 60-second explainer video
  • Two product demos (2-4 minutes each)
  • Several 5-15 second social media shorts
  • Two customer testimonial videos (3-4 minutes each)

Video Retainer Packages

Sometimes a retainer agreement may be the best way to go if you’re not sure what types of videos you need yet, but do want videos.  These agreements usually consist of a few shoots a month, set editing units or hours, and/or animated deliverables.  It often saves time by reducing the contracting and planning process, and avoids vendors not being available when you need them, especially on short notice.

Retainers also make it easier for vendors to assist with AI-generated content since GenAI is still somewhat unreliable and difficult to budget accurately.

Whatever your needs may be, a package is a great way to save money, save time, and ensure that your brand will have quality video assets to leverage for your marketing campaigns.
